Observation
What is most important about exercising spiritual gifts?
Application
Does my opinion of the use (or lack thereof) of spiritual gifts align with the teaching in this passage? Do I contribute to division or to unity? To confusion or to edification?
Prayer
Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, May I never seek to receive or use a gift of Your Spirit for my own ego gratification. May I never be a source of division or confusion, and may I never consider another as less than me because of what gifts You have given. May I always remember that all things must be done decently and in order for the edification and encouragement of the Body of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:
- B – BODY (physical health)
- L – Labor (their job or school)
- E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
- S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
- S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)
Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:
- Pat & Hannah Kelley
- Fred & Shirley Leonard
- Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
- Michael & Jenn Morgan
Ministry:
- Christian Pro-Life Ministries in Idaho (Idaho Chooses Life, Stanton Health Care, etc)
CLF:
- That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.
Community: Pray for Mountain Home…
- That city leaders would submit to God
- That people can find and keep gainful employment
- For sound financial management by city officials
- Salvation for unbelievers
- For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials
- For the air base: safety for military and their families (especially those who are deployed), sound military strategies by commanders, impact for Christ in areas where deployed
MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:
Now it is God who strengthens us, with you, in Christ and has anointed us. He has also sealed us and given us the Spirit as a down payment in our hearts. – 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 (HCSB)
