Psalms 2-4

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What does Psalm 2 tell us about Christ? How did David respond to extreme danger and stress in Psalm 3? To what does he attribute his ability to sleep peacefully in Psalm 4?

Am I rebelling against God in any area of my life right now? Do I take refuge in Christ? Do I trust in God to keep me safe and sustain me?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, I thank You that Jesus is Your Son, the One You have anointed to rule over all the earth from Zion. I thank You that because I have taken refuge in Him, I am happy. You, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the One who lifts up my head. I lie down and sleep; I wake again because You sustain me. Salvation belongs You alone; may Your blessing be on Your people. You answer me when I call, God, and vindicate me. You freed me from affliction; You are gracious to me and hear my prayer. I praise You and thank You that You have set apart the faithful for Yourself. You hear when I call to You. Help me not to sin in anger; on my bed, may I reflect in my heart and be still before You. May I offer the sacrifices of praise and a life devoted to You in the righteousness of Christ. I trust in You, Lord. You have put more joy in my heart than the wealthy have when their grain and new wine abound. I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, LORD, make me live in safety. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for Nampa

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

But thanks be to God, who always puts us on display in Christ and through us spreads the aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. For to God we are the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. – 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 (HCSB)
