Psalms 19-21

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What does Psalm 19 tell us about God’s work and God’s Word and how we should respond to it? According to Psalm 20, in what alone are we to trust? To what does David attribute Israel’s victories and success in Psalm 21?

Do I give God glory for His handiwork in nature? Do I revere His Word as David does in Psalm 19, and respond to it by having speech and attitudes that please Him? Do i trust in him alone and give all the glory and credit for all good things?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, I praise You as the Creator and Maker of all things. Everywhere I look in nature I see Your great glory proclaimed and the knowledge that You are God and God alone. Your instruction is perfect, reviving the soul; Your testimony is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise. Your precepts are right, making the heart glad; Your commandment is radiant, making the eyes light up. The fear of You is pure, enduring forever; Your ordinances are reliable and altogether righteous. They are more desirable than gold–than an abundance of pure gold; and sweeter than honey–than honey dripping from the comb. Thank You for warning me by them; there is great reward in keeping them. I ask that You would cleanse me from my hidden faults and unintentional sins, and keep me from willful sins; do not let them rule over me. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.

I thank You that You answer prayer, and I ask that Your people would turn to You in earnest prayer and that You would hear their cry and answer them. Then may we shout for joy and give You all the credit and glory. May I always only take pride in You, Yahweh my God. Be exalted, Lord, in Your strength; I will sing and praise your might. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for Media Industries (TV/Movies, Radio/Music, Print/Internet)

  • Godly themes/influences
  • Christian workers at all levels sensitive to God’s leading
  • Salvation for influential media leaders
  • Courage to share God’s message
  • Financial rewards for wholesome media

May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word. – 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (HCSB)
