Psalms 26-27

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

On what does David base his standing with God (26:1b)? What is the one thing does David desire and ask of the Lord (27:4)?

Do I base my relationship with God on what I do or on what He has done? Do I seek after God desire to dwell with Him and gaze on his beauty all the days of my life?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father God, Help me to trust in You without wavering, as David did. May I be so strong in You that I may be able to boldly ask You to test me and try me; to examine my heart and mind. Thank You for Your faithful love, and help me to live by Your truth. Remind me to raise my voice in thanksgiving and to tell about Your wonderful works. You are my light and salvation, and the stronghold of my life, and so I fear no one. I ask one thing of You: to dwell in Your presence and gaze at Your beauty and grow closer to You all the days of my life. Thank You, Father, for Your provision and protection, both in this life and in eternity. You have called me to seek Your face; Lord, I will seek Your face. Show me Your way, LORD, and lead me on a level path. I am certain that I will see Your goodness in the land of the living. So I wait for You, LORD; strengthen me to be courageous and let my heart be strong as I wait for You, LORD! I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Travis & Consuela Sauer (Mikayla, Christian, Donte, Cheyenne, Sera, Ella, Thomas)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for teens and young adults (middle school through college age) in our community

  • For Godly influences and teachers
  • For safety and protection from accidents, abuse, and predators
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For a heart to learn and to know God
  • That they will not be prodigals, but remain true to God all the days of their lives
  • That they would turn to God to fill every need, not to addictive substances and behaviors
  • Respect for parents and other authority

May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word. – 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (HCSB)
