Psalm 42

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

To what physical need does David compare his desire for God? What is his response to depression?

Do I thirst after the living God? When I start to become depressed, do I remember His faithful love and put my hope in Him and praise Him as my savior and my God?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Give me a heart that longs after You like a dear longs for a stream or a parched man longs for a drink of water. Even as I pour out my heart to You, help me to recall times of rejoicing You gave me in the past and remember all the good things You have done for me. When I am depressed and in turmoil, may I put my hope in You and still praise You, my Savior and my God. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)
  • Gil & Lois Estes
  • Gary Friend
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Austria

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for Kuna…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

For we walk by faith, not by sight, and we are confident and satisfied to be out of the body and at home with the Lord. Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to Him. – 2 Corinthians 5:7-9 (HCSB)
