Psalm 68

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

How do the enemies of God respond to His presence? How do the righteous respond? What does verses 5 and 6 teach us about God’s heart of compassion to the abandoned and bereaved?

How do I respond to the Lord? Do I share His heart for widows and orphans?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear Father, I praise Your name and exalt You, Yahweh, the God who rides on the clouds. I rejoice before You. Your enemies scatter when You arise, but the righteous rejoice and are glad. For You are a Father of the fatherless and a champion of widows. You provide homes for those who are deserted. I sing praise to You, Lord, the One who rides in the ancient, highest heavens. I ascribe power to You. Your majesty is over Your people, Your power among the clouds. God, You are awe-inspiring in Your sanctuaries. The God of Israel gives power and strength to His people. May You be praised! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan (Cody, Kyle)
  • Michael & Jenn Morgan

  • Christian Pro-Life Ministries in Idaho (Idaho Chooses Life, Stanton Health Care, etc)

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for Star and Eagle

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

For if the eagerness is there, it is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have. – 2 Corinthians 8:12 (HCSB)
