Psalm 73

What does Asaph say almost caused his fall? What brought him back to the godly path?

Do I focus on the wealth and current status of wicked people, or do I set my eyes on my eternal God and trust Him to put all things right in His perfect timing?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Keep me from envying the prosperity of the wicked and all the earthly things they have, and instead help me to focus on all I have in You for all eternity! For You are always with me, and You hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterwards You will take me up into glory. Whom do I have in heaven but You? And I desire nothing on earth but You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but You are the strength of my heart, my portion forever. Those far from You will certainly perish; You destroy all who are unfaithful to You. But as for me, Your presence is my good. I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, so I can tell about all You do. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for business professionals providing goods and services

  • God to be glorified by excellent work
  • Ministry to occur in the workplace
  • Godly employers and employees
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • Sound financial strategies
  • Strong, God-honoring relationships

Each person should do as he has decided in his heart–not reluctantly or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. – 2 Corinthians 9:7 (HCSB)
