Psalm 55

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What did David wish he could during his time of great difficulty (6-8)? What did he see happening to his city, and what happened between him and his friend (9-14)? In spite of all this, of what is He confident?

What situations in my life have caused me to wish I had wings so I could fly away? How do I feel when I look at the state of modern culture, and when friends betray me? Do I maintain David’s confidence that God will save and deliver and put all things right?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear God, Sometimes life is difficult and I just wish I had wings and could fly away from everything. But You didn’t give me wings, Father. As I face the wicked world around me and the unfaithfulness of some people I thought I could trust, remind that though life is hard, You are good, all the time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack)
  • Bob & Peggy Hoover

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for the salvation of the lost

  • Readiness to repent
  • Hearts prepared to hear God’s voice
  • Deep dissatisfaction and unrest with life without Him
  • Godly influences

We give no opportunity for stumbling to anyone, so that the ministry will not be blamed. – 2 Corinthians 6:31 (HCSB)
