Psalm 82

What does God have to say to earthly rulers/judges (1-4: the word translated here as “gods” with a lowercase ‘g’ is the same Hebrew word for judges)? What is Asaph’s prayer (8)?

Do I vote for those candidates who will judge justly, showing no partiality and who will provide for the underprivileged and oppressed? Do I pray for God to intervene when wicked men are in power?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:

Dear Father in Heaven, As Your people, may we set aside petty squabbling, minor issues and party biases and vote for people who will uphold righteousness, justice, and the principles of Your Word. Give us leaders who will not judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked, but who will provide justice for the needy and the fatherless, uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute, and rescue the poor and needy. Save us from the hand of the wicked. Rise up, God, judge the earth, for all the nations belong to You. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin, Natalie)
  • Ross & Christy Stoltey (Spencer, Garrett, Conner, Katie, Grace)
  • Sree Yalamanchili
  • Jason & Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)

  • Chapel Mission India

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

Community: Pray for the salvation of the lost

  • Readiness to repent
  • Hearts prepared to hear God’s voice
  • Deep dissatisfaction and unrest with life without Him
  • Godly influences

  • Jenn Austring
  • Amy Brueggemann
  • Debbie Brueggemann
  • Chris Carlton
  • Loren “Bud” Clark

  • Provenance

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.

Community: Pray for the relationship between generations–parents, children, grandparents

  • That the true Christian faith of older generation would be clearly communicated and passed down to children
  • That saved children in unsaved families would clearly exhibit and communicate the faith to their parents and grandparents
  • A harvest of souls of all ages
  • Good, nurturing relationships

For though we live in the body, we do not wage war in an unspiritual way, since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey Christ. – 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (HCSB)
