Observation

Why is Jesus the only one who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?

Application

Spend some time offering your praise and worship to Jesus, the one who is worthy.

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, I praise You that the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered! Thus, He can open the scroll and its seven seals. Jesus, You alone are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals because You were killed, and at the cost of Your own blood You have purchased for the Father persons from every tribe, language, people, and nation. You have appointed them as a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth. Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and praise! I eagerly yearn for the Day when every creature — in heaven, on earth, under the earth, in the sea, and all that is in them — will sing: “To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb be praise, honor, glory, and ruling power forever and ever!” And the four living creatures will say “Amen,” and the elders will throw themselves to the ground and worship. Hallelujah! Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Gary Friend
  • Roger & Andrea Gabel; Tom
  • Steve & Gloria Gangwer
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)

Ministry:

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Greece

CLF:

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for County leaders…

  • Commissioners, Assessor, Coroner, Treasurer, Clerks, Judges, Prosecutors, Defenders, Sheriffs
  • that they would make sound financial decisions
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

Catechism

PART 1: GOD, CREATION AND FALL, LAW

Question #19: Is there any way to escape punishment and be brought back into God’s favor?

Children’s Answer: Yes, God reconciles us to Himself by a Redeemer.

Adult’s Answer: Yes, to satisfy His justice, God Himself, out of mere mercy, reconciles us to Himself and delivers us from sin and from the punishment for sin, by a Redeemer.

Memory Verse

Isaiah 53:10–11 (HCSB)

Yet the LORD was pleased to crush Him severely. When You make Him a restitution offering, He will see His seed, He will prolong His days, and by His hand, the LORD’s pleasure will be accomplished. He will see it out of His anguish, and He will be satisfied with His knowledge. My righteous Servant will justify many, and He will carry their iniquities.
