Observation

What were Sanballat and his cohorts planning for Nehemiah? What did he do? What did he discern about the “help” offered by Shemaiah?

Application

Do I stay focused on the work God has given me, or am I distracted by plotters and schemers? Do I trust God to protect me and use wisdom to discern the intentions of suggestions from the insincere?

Prayer

Dear Father, Strengthen me to have the endurance, focus, fortitude, and wisdom of Nehemiah! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack, Emma, Lucy)
  • Bob Hoover
  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Andy Lanning

Ministry:

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

CLF:

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for your neighbors…

  • That God would provide opportunities for you to minister to them
  • That unbelievers would receive Christ as Savior and Lord
  • For their marriages / family relationships
  • For their finances / employment
  • Any specific needs of which you’re aware

Catechism

PART 2: CHRIST, REDEMPTION AND GRACE

Question #27: Are all people, just as they were lost through Adam, saved through Christ?

Children’s Answer: No, only those who are justified by God by being united to Christ by faith.

Adult’s Answer: No, only those who are justified by God by being united to Christ by faith. Nevertheless, God in His mercy demonstrates common grace even to those who are not saved by restraining the effects of sin and enabling works of culture for human well-being.

Memory Verse

Romans 5:17 (HCSB)

Since by the one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive the overflow of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
