Scripture

Nehemiah 7

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

Observation

Along with his brother Hanani, why did Nehemiah entrust Jerusalem to Hananiah (2)? Why did Nehemiah record the genealogy of the people (5)?

Application

Would others describe me as a faithful person who fears God more than most? Why or why not? What has God put on my mind that I need to do?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in heaven, Make I live my life as a person who is faithful and fears You. When You put a task on my mind or in my heart, may I be faithful to carry it out. In Jesus’ name I ask this, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Fred & Shirley Leonard
  • Dan & Jenn Loeschke
  • Corey & Sheryl Morasch
  • Cody Morgan
  • Kyle Morgan
  • Mark & Michelle Morgan

Ministry:

  • Christian Pro-Life Ministries in Idaho (Idaho Chooses Life, Stanton Health Care, etc)

CLF:

  • That we will devote ourselves to prayer, individually, in small groups, and as a church.

Community: Pray for the poor & imprisoned

  • Salvation
  • That they will trust in God’s provision
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • That they will have hope
  • For godly mentors in the prison/jail system

Catechism

PART 2: CHRIST, REDEMPTION AND GRACE

Question #27: Are all people, just as they were lost through Adam, saved through Christ?

Children’s Answer: No, only those who are justified by God by being united to Christ by faith.

Adult’s Answer: No, only those who are justified by God by being united to Christ by faith. Nevertheless, God in His mercy demonstrates common grace even to those who are not saved by restraining the effects of sin and enabling works of culture for human well-being.

Memory Verse

Romans 5:17 (HCSB)

Since by the one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive the overflow of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
