Ruth 2

Observation

What does this chapter teach us about how God works through the small events of our day-to-day lives? Why was Boaz moved to help Ruth (11-12)?

Application

Do I trust God to work in my life even when nothing “exciting” or “spectacular” is happening? Do I trust God enough to follow Him even when it means leaving behind what is familiar and held dear?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, Thank You that You don’t reserve Your blessings and grace only for the “important” people, or the wealthy and powerful. Thank You that even in the unspectacular ordinariness of living in my daily routine, You still work for my good and Your glory. And that You that the person who is loyal and obedient to You is not unnoticed by You. Build my faith to trust You more with each passing day. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin, Natalie)
  • Janet Sonnenberg
  • Dave & Debbie Spears
  • Justin & Bonnie Wilkerson (Janae, Jordan)
  • Sree & Irena Yalamanchili
  • Jason & Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)

Ministry:

  • Chapel Mission India

CLF:

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

Community: Pray for your neighbors…

  • That God would provide opportunities for you to minister to them
  • That unbelievers would receive Christ as Savior and Lord
  • For their marriages / family relationships
  • For their finances / employment
  • Any specific needs of which you’re aware

Catechism

PART 2: CHRIST, REDEMPTION AND GRACE

Question #31: What do we believe by true faith?

Children’s Answer: We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord, who was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the church, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Adult’s Answer: Everything taught to us in the gospel. The Apostles’ Creed expresses what we believe in these words: We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
