Job 10

What is happening to Job’s attitude?

Summarized Bible: Sometimes, when in affliction, the believer is tempted to think that God’s providences and His justice cannot be reconciled. Faith and patience would keep us from being weary of our lives and would show us that when God contends with us, there is always some good purpose in it. The Christian’s comfort is that he is “in Christ” and that although he is afflicted, there is no condemnation. (Romans 8:1). He is chastised that he might not be condemned with the world.

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, Help me not to wallow in self-pity. When I am in a battle facing trial, tribulation, affliction, and injustice, rather than sulking and blaming You, may I still praise You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin, Natalie)
  • Janet Sonnenberg
  • Dave & Debbie Spears
  • Justin & Bonnie Wilkerson (Janae, Jordan)
  • Sree & Irena Yalamanchili
  • Jason & Danielle Youngblood (Kayla, Kendra)

  • Chapel Mission India

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

Community: Pray for our national leaders

  • God’s anointing on them and a desire in them to follow Him
  • For the president and cabinet to seek after God
  • For judges to rule justly and righteously
  • For senators & representatives to pass godly legislation and block sinful bills
  • That our government would protect its citizens and punish evildoers

Question #40: What should we pray?

Children’s Answer: The whole Word of God directs us in what we should pray.

Adult’s Answer: The whole Word of God directs and inspires us in what we should pray, including the prayer Jesus himself taught us.

Memory Verse

Ephesians 3:14–21 (HCSB)

For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. I pray that He may grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power in the inner man through His Spirit, and that the Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, and to know the Messiah’s love that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us– to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
