Scripture

Job 34

Observation

TTBDBD: Elihu stands in Job 34:10 as God’s apologist. God’s absolute and impartial justice is at all times a matter of untold comfort. There will be no cause of ultimate complaint, but from the lips of the holiest beings in the universe, most able to pass an opinion, the cry will ascend, “Great and marvelous are thy works, O Lord God the Almighty. Righteous and true are thy ways, thou King of the ages . . . Thy righteous acts have been made manifest,” Revelation 15:3-4, R.V.
Ponder those last words. God’s righteous acts have not yet been made manifest; it is therefore foolish and wrong to pass judgment upon an unfinished program. Wait, mortal man, until, at the great white throne, God shall unfold His inner reasons. If it is not fit to say to a king, “Thou art vile,” how much less to Him who lives through the ages, while the people are shaken and pass away, and the mighty are taken away without hand!.

Application

SB: It is absurd and unreasonable to multiply words in complaint against God’s ways. His Fatherly corrections are a part of our filial education and we should beware of a rebellious heart which only brings added affliction to ourselves and reproach upon God.

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, Thank You that You are in control and know what is best. Keep me from disbelief and from thinking I know better than You what should or should not happen in the world generally and my life specifically. Rather, help me to rest and find comfort in Your sovereign power and rule. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Gary Friend
  • Roger & Andrea Gabel; Tom
  • Steve & Gloria Gangwer
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)
  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)

Ministry:

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Greece

CLF:

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for the relationship between generations–parents, children, grandparents

  • That the true Christian faith of older generation would be clearly communicated and passed down to children
  • That saved children in unsaved families would clearly exhibit and communicate the faith to their parents and grandparents
  • A harvest of souls of all ages
  • Good, nurturing relationships

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for the children who enroll in “The Greatest Journey” follow-up discipleship program, that they will come to faith in Jesus and tell their friends and family about Jesus.

Catechism

PART 3: SPIRIT, RESTORATION, GROWING IN GRACE

Question #44: What is baptism?

Children’s Answer: Baptism is the washing with water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Adult’s Answer: Baptism is the washing with water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; it signifies and seals our adoption into Christ, our cleansing from sin, and our commitment to belong to the Lord and to his church.

Matthew 28:19 (HCSB)

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
