Scripture

Job 35

Observation

LASB: Sometimes we wonder if being faithful to our convictions really does any good at all. Elihu spoke to this very point. His conclusion was that God is still concerned even though he doesn’t intervene immediately in every situation.

Application

LASB: In the broad scope of time, God executes justice. We have his promise on that. Don’t lose hope. Wait upon God. He notices your right living and your faith.

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father, May I never doubt Your goodness or power. Whether You choose to intervene on my behalf or not during difficult times, Jesus has already intervened for me and sealed my eternal destiny, and that is more than enough to warrant my faithfulness to You–regardless of anything else You may choose to do or not to do. Thank You, Lord! In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack, Emma, Lucy)
  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Andy Lanning

Ministry:

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

CLF:

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for the relationship between generations–parents, children, grandparents

  • That the true Christian faith of older generation would be clearly communicated and passed down to children
  • That saved children in unsaved families would clearly exhibit and communicate the faith to their parents and grandparents
  • A harvest of souls of all ages
  • Good, nurturing relationships

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for the National Leadership Team volunteers who work with local churches to distribute the shoe boxes and to implement “The Greatest Journey.”

Catechism

PART 3: SPIRIT, RESTORATION, GROWING IN GRACE

Question #44: What is baptism?

Children’s Answer: Baptism is the washing with water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Adult’s Answer: Baptism is the washing with water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; it signifies and seals our adoption into Christ, our cleansing from sin, and our commitment to belong to the Lord and to his church.

Memory Verse

Matthew 28:19 (HCSB)

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
