Ecclesiastes 5

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

SB: Warnings against a vain religion. The vanity and vexation attending the possession of wealth.

SB: We should address ourselves to the worship of God with all possible seriousness and care, for religious exercises if not rightly directed, may become empty ceremony, and we will miss our end in coming into His presence. Those who labor only for the world, to fill their hands with that which they cannot take away, will not only die an uncomfortable death, but will miss the only satisfaction of life.

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in Heaven, I desire to worship You in the way that You want–that honors and glorifies You. Help me by Your Spirit to live in obedience to You, and guard me from sinning in ignorance. May I not speak to try to impress You or others, but may my words exalt You, edify Your people, and help draw the lost to You. Keep me from placing too high a priority on the things of this world that do not matter in eternity, and from being too concerned with the honor and accolades of men. Instead, in whatever I do and say, may it be pleasing to You. I ask this in the Name of Jesus, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Michael & Jenn Morgan (Eleanor)
  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz (Anabelle)
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Travis & Consuela Sauer (Mikayla, Christian, Donte, Cheyenne, Sera, Ella, Thomas)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for young children in our community

  • For Godly influences
  • For safety and protection from accidents, abuse, and predators
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For a heart to learn and to know God from a young age

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for the collection and processing of shoe boxes as we anticipate sharing the love of Jesus Christ with multitudes of children across the world.
  • Catechism

Question #47: Does the Lord’s Supper add anything to Christ’s atoning work?

Children’s Answer: No, Christ died once for all.

Adult’s Answer: No, Christ died once for all. The Lord’s Supper is a covenant meal celebrating Christ’s atoning work; as it is also a means of strengthening our faith as we look to him, and a foretaste of the future feast. But those who take part with unrepentant hearts eat and drink judgment on themselves.

    Memory Verse

    1 Peter 3:18 (HCSB)

For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring you to God, after being put to death in the fleshly realm but made alive in the spiritual realm.
