Genesis 9

What does this chapter teach regarding capital punishment? About the role of mankind regarding the animal kingdom and the environment? About God’s covenant relationship with mankind?

Do I have a biblical worldview concerning capital punishment, animals, and the environment, or do I base my views on my own logic and feelings and the media? Do I believe God keeps His covenants?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in heaven, Thank You for Your grace and mercy in preserving mankind and for providing us with a planet on which to live and food to eat. May I base my stand on issues on your Word rather than on the societal or political pundits of the day or my own imperfect and fallen understanding. Thank You for keeping Your covenants. Build my faith to trust You! In the name of Christ Jesus I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack, Emma, Lucy)
  • Pat & Hannah Kelley
  • Andy Lanning

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for marriages in our community…

  • that Christ-like love would be exhibited
  • for good communication between spouses
  • for unity in finances
  • salvation for non-believing spouses
  • that they would balance work and home life
  • that Godly friends and mentors would come alongside them.

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for the National Leadership Team volunteers who work with local churches to distribute the shoe boxes and to implement “The Greatest Journey.”
