Genesis 39

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

How did Joseph attain such success and responsibility so quickly? How did he respond to the boss’s wife’s advances, and what happened as a result? What consolation did he have in spite of this turn of events?

Do I give God the credit for my achievements? Do I take a stand for the right, even if it may have dire consequences? Do I trust God to be with me and bless me even amid such consequences, or do I turn away from Him if things don’t go as I had planned?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father in heaven, Thank You that You bless and keep those who are Yours! I ask that You would give me a heart like Joseph had, to do what is right, to give You the glory, to resist temptation, and to trust in You even when I am mistreated for following You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Michael & Jenn Morgan (Eleanor)
  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz (Anabelle)
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Jared & Amanda Patchin (Alex, Luc)
  • Travis & Consuela Sauer (Mikayla, Christian, Donte, Cheyenne, Sera, Ella, Thomas)

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.

Community: Pray for orphans and children in foster care…

  • that they would come to know the adoptive Father-heart of God
  • that they would be positively influenced by Christian workers
  • that God would bring Christian friends alongside them
  • that they would come to salvation
  • that they would be adopted by godly parents

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for the collection and processing of shoe boxes as we anticipate sharing the love of Jesus Christ with multitudes of children across the world.
