Genesis 42

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

How did Joseph’s dreams (for which his brothers sold him into slavery) come true in this chapter? How does he test their character? How does Jacob reveal that he has not yet learned his lesson regarding favoritism?

What are some times where I have seen God’s plan come to fruition through my hardship? If someone tested me to reveal my character, what would be the result? Are there lessons from my past that I need to learn so as not to repeat mistakes?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Thank You for using the circumstances in my life (good and bad) for Your purposes. Help me to be dedicated to loving You and living for You so that I am not hurting others and myself through disobedience. Build in me godly character and integrity that stands up to the test. Help me not to be defeated by my past sins and mistakes, but to learn and grow from them. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis & Hali Davidson (Andrew, Maddy)
  • Patti Doty
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)
  • Gil & Lois Estes

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for your neighbors…

  • That God would provide opportunities for you to minister to them
  • That unbelievers would receive Christ as Savior and Lord
  • For their marriages / family relationships
  • For their finances / employment
  • Any specific needs of which you’re aware

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray that the boxes will open doors for children to hear the Good News in parts of the world that are typically closed to proclaiming the Gospel.
