Matthew 8

What was the meaning of Jesus’ response to the Jewish teacher and to the disciple who wanted to say goodbye to his parents?

Is Jesus the first priority in my life, or do I put other things ahead of Him?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Jesus, Thank You for Your healing power! I lift up my friends and loved ones who need to be made whole and ask You to touch them with Your healing hand. Help me to follow hard after You and to love You with my whole heart, above material possessions and comforts, and above all other relationships. Help me to ever trust You, no matter the circumstances. In Your name I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Dustin and Amy Barton
  • Debbie Brueggemann
  • Michelle Caldwell
  • Kathi Carr
  • Loran “Bud” Clark

  • Compassion International

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.

Community: Pray for our state leaders…

  • Governor & his advisers
  • Judges
  • state senators and representatives
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray that God will use Operation Christmas Child to bring joy to boys and girls who are facing poverty, sickness, or war.
