Deuteronomy 16

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

How did God expect His people to exercise giving (17)? What do verses 18-20 teach us about the importance of electing wise and just leaders in every sphere of life where God has granted us that ability?

Do I give according to means as God has blessed me? Do I err by either neglecting to give according to my means or being wracked with guilt because I can’t give beyond my means? Do I do my part–where and when I have the ability–to install/appoint/elect wise and just leaders?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Help me to give to Your work according to the means with which you have blessed me. Please keep me from stinginess, but also keep me from self-condemnation when I can’t give more because I don’t have it. Where You have blessed me with the ability to vote/appoint/install leaders, guide me to choose those who will lead wisely and justly. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis Davidson (Andrew, Maddy)
  • Patti Doty
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)
  • Gary Friend

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for the poor & imprisoned

  • Salvation
  • That they will trust in God’s provision
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • That they will have hope
  • For godly mentors in the prison/jail system
  • Godly influences

Operation Christmas Child:

    • Pray that the boxes will open doors for children to hear the Good News in parts of the world that are typically closed to proclaiming the Gospel.
