John 10

Jesus says that He is both the Gate and the Good Shepherd. What does this mean and why is it important? What does Jesus promise regarding His sheep? Why were the Jews going to stone Him?

How should knowing I am Christ’s sheep affect the way I respond to obstacles, trials, and suffering? How should it affect how I respond to Him? To His other sheep? What action steps can I take?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord Jesus, You are the Holy Lamb of God, sacrificed to take away the sins of the world. But You are also the gate for the sheep, and I thank You that because I have come through You, I am safe and have found an eternal pasture in which to dwell. I believe that You are the only gate to God, and all others who claim to be are thieves and robbers that have come to kill and destroy; but You give life to the full. You, Jesus, are the Good Shepherd. You gave Your life for the sheep. Others run away when danger comes, because they care nothing for Your sheep, but You protect Your flock. You know us and we know You, just as the Father knows You and You know the Father. I thank You, Lord, that You have other sheep in many pens around the world throughout history, and some still to be found. Use me to help bring them to You. We are all one flock, and You are our only shepherd. And though You did lay down Your life for us, by Your power You took it up again, and will do the same for us. Your works–the miracles You did in Your Father’s name–showed that You are the Messiah, the Son of God, and I declare that I believe. I am Your sheep and I listen to Your voice; may I never listen to the voice of the thieves and robbers. May I ever follow only You. I praise and thank You that You give me eternal life, and I will never perish; no one can snatch me out of Your hand. Your Father, who gave me to You, is greater than all; no one can snatch me out of Your Father’s hand. You and the Father are one. Thank You, Lord! Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis Davidson (Andrew, Maddy)
  • Patti Doty
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)
  • Gary Friend

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for marriages in our community…

  • that Christ-like love would be exhibited
  • for good communication between spouses
  • for unity in finances
  • salvation for non-believing spouses
  • that they would balance work and home life
  • that Godly friends and mentors would come alongside them.

Operation Christmas Child:

    • Pray that the boxes will open doors for children to hear the Good News in parts of the world that are typically closed to proclaiming the Gospel.
