2 Samuel 6

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What did David do wrong, in spite of His good intentions? What was the result? Why did things go better in his second effort? What mistake did Michal make, and what did it cost her?

Do I make the mistake of trying to do the right thing in the wrong way, instead of God’s way? Do I learn from such mistakes? Do I make snap judgments regarding the motives of others based on my own flawed perceptions?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Remind me that Your work is to be done in Your way, and you will not bless it if I try to do it another way. I pray that no one else will have to pay the consequences for my well-intentioned disobedience! Keep me from condemning others based on my perception, especially when they are doing something that actually honors You. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Dave & Debbie Spears
  • Steve Vinsonhaler
  • Mike & Ann Thorn
  • Justin & Bonnie Wilkerson (Janae, Jordan)
  • Sree & Irena Yalamanchili (Aria)

  • Chapel Mission India

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

Community: Pray for your neighbors…

  • That God would provide opportunities for you to minister to them
  • That unbelievers would receive Christ as Savior and Lord
  • For their marriages / family relationships
  • For their finances / employment
  • Any specific needs of which you’re aware

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for God to direct each shoe box gift into the hands of just the right child so that each one will experience His unconditional love and provision.

Question #1: What is our only hope in life and death?

Children’s Answer: That we are not our own but belong to God.

Adult’s Answer: That we are not our own but belong, body and soul, both in life and death, to God and to our Savior Jesus Christ.

Memory Verse

Romans 14:7–8 (HCSB)

For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
