What does David’s question in verse 1 reveal about his heart and character? What act of kindness did he make? How does this picture what God has done for us in Christ?

Do I seek to show kindness to people, even the families of my enemies? Am I thankful that, though I was a spiritually crippled enemy of God, He invited me to feast at His table and live with Him forever because of Christ?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father in Heaven, Please give me a heart like David’s, who sought to show kindness to the family of his persecutor rather.than vengeance. Thank You that instead of taking revenge on me, You showed me Your great kindness in Christ, and because I have received him, I will live with You, feasting at Your table forever! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Roger & Andrea Gabel; Tom
  • Steve & Gloria Gangwer
  • Doug Gates
  • George Gifford
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Greece

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for our state leaders…

  • Governor & his advisers
  • Judges
  • state senators and representatives
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray that the boxes will open doors for children to hear the Good News in parts of the world that are typically closed to proclaiming the Gospel.

Question 2: What is God?

Children’s Answer: God is the creator and sustainer of everyone and everything.

Adult’s Answer: God is the creator and sustainer of everyone and everything. He is eternal, infinite, and unchangeable in His power and perfection, goodness and glory, wisdom, justice, and truth. Nothing happens except through Him and by His will.

Memory Verse

Psalm 86:8-10,15 (HCSB)

Lord, there is no one like You among the gods, and there are no works like Yours. All the nations You have made will come and bow down before You, Lord, and will honor Your name. For You are great and perform wonders; You alone are God. But You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in faithful love and truth.
