2 Samuel 10

What was David’s motive in sending men to King Hunan of Ammon? How did Hunan and his advisers interpret the gesture, and what did they do to David’s men? What happened as a result?

Am I quick to judge the motives of others based on my own sinful tendencies and attitudes? Do I find myself offending others often because of hastening to act on my perception, before I have all the facts?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father in Heaven, help me to be wise and patient in dealing with others, especially in times of great stress and emotion. May I not rush into sin and offense because of impulsive decisions based on incorrect impressions and perceptions. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack, Emma, Lucy)
  • Fred Leonard

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for County leaders…

  • Commissioners, Assessor, Coroner, Treasurer, Clerks, Judges, Prosecutors, Defenders, Sheriffs
  • that they would make sound financial decisions
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for the National Leadership Team volunteers who work with local churches to distribute the shoe boxes and to implement “The Greatest Journey.”

Question 2: What is God?

Children’s Answer: God is the creator and sustainer of everyone and everything.

Adult’s Answer: God is the creator and sustainer of everyone and everything. He is eternal, infinite, and unchangeable in His power and perfection, goodness and glory, wisdom, justice, and truth. Nothing happens except through Him and by His will.

Memory Verse

Psalm 86:8-10,15 (HCSB)

Lord, there is no one like You among the gods, and there are no works like Yours. All the nations You have made will come and bow down before You, Lord, and will honor Your name. For You are great and perform wonders; You alone are God. But You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in faithful love and truth.
