How did the shepherds react to meeting Jesus? How is Jesus “the consolation of Israel”?

Do I rejoice and spread the news that King Jesus came to earth? Do I seek in Him the consolation for my sorrows, pains, and difficulties?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, I am once again awestruck by these extraordinary, supernatural events, when You personally intervened on our behalf in the world. Like the shepherds, may I rush to see what You tell me, and then rejoice in it and spread the word, glorifying and praising You. Like Simeon, may I be overwhelmed by the realization of the fulfillment of Your promises in the person of Jesus and give You glory for it. Like Anna, may I give thanks and worship and share the good news! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike & Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack, Emma, Lucy)
  • Fred Leonard

  • Chrysalis Women’s Transitional Housing

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for the salvation of the lost

  • Readiness to repent
  • Hearts prepared to hear God’s voice
  • Deep dissatisfaction and unrest with life without Him
  • Godly influences

Operation Christmas Child:

  • Pray for the National Leadership Team volunteers who work with local churches to distribute the shoe boxes and to implement “The Greatest Journey.”
