What accusation did Ahab level at Elijah in verse 17, and how id Elijah respond to it? What happened in the confrontation between Elijah and the hundreds of false prophets? What happened next?

Do I place blame on others that belongs squarely on my own shoulders? Am I willing to stand up for God even when outnumbered by His detractors? Am I thankful for the victory and refreshment that is mine in Christ?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Heavenly Father, Keep me from blaming others for the consequences of my own sin. Rather, may I take responsibility and repent. Please keep me from fearing what men can do to me and give me courage and boldness by the power of the Holy Spirit. I thank You that Christ has already won the victory, and everything I need is mine in Him! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Dustin and Amy Barton
  • Debbie Brueggemann
  • Michelle Caldwell
  • Kathi Carr
  • Loran “Bud” Clark

  • Compassion International

  • That we will be devoted to evangelism and growth; that the Lord will add to our numbers those who are being saved.

Community: Pray for Caldwell

  • That people can find and keep gainful employment

  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

Children’s Answer: Ninth, that we do not lie or deceive. Tenth, that we are content, not envying anyone.

Adult’s Answer: Ninth, that we do not lie or deceive, but speak the truth in love. Tenth, that we are content, not envying anyone or resenting what God has given them or us.

Indeed, if you keep the royal law prescribed in the Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.
