What was Elijah’s reaction to Jezebel’s threat, and how did God respond to him (1-18)? How did God provide for his need for help and encouragement from a human friend (19-21)?

Do I allow fear, fatigue, hunger, and discouragement to hinder my faith in God? Do I give God thanks for the people he has placed in my life who assist and encourage me?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Lord God, my Father, I confess that too often I let my physical and emotional weaknesses discourage me and sway me from trusting and following You. Remind me not to focus on my circumstances or to make major decisions when I’m tired and hungry. Remind me that I am not alone in serving You. And please remind me to be thankful for the godly people You’ve placed in my life who give me help, support, and encouragement. In the name of Christ Jesus I pray, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis Davidson (Andrew, Maddy)
  • Pat Dumandan
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)
  • Gary Friend

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for Ontario…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials

Question #12: What does God require in the ninth and tenth commandments?

Children’s Answer: Ninth, that we do not lie or deceive. Tenth, that we are content, not envying anyone.

Adult’s Answer: Ninth, that we do not lie or deceive, but speak the truth in love. Tenth, that we are content, not envying anyone or resenting what God has given them or us.

Memory Verse

James 2:8 (HCSB)

Indeed, if you keep the royal law prescribed in the Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.
