Isaiah 60

What wonderful event is described in this chapter? What will happen to the kingdoms that don’t welcome it (12)? What especially amazing promises does God make (18-22)?

Am I eagerly anticipating the Return of Christ? Do I long to dwell in His eternal light?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Thank You that Jesus IS coming again! Thank You that both You, Father, and Your Son will dwell among Your people and be our eternal light, such that we will no longer need the sun and moon. Thank You that Christ will come in power and glory, quashing any resistance, judging those who oppressed Your people. He will rule guard us in peace and rule in righteousness. Violence will never again be heard of in the land; devastation and destruction will be gone from its borders. The walls will be named salvation and the gates, praise. There will be no more sorrow and every citizen will be righteous and possess the land forever, and You will be glorified. Thank You Lord!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Roger & Andrea Gabel; Tom
  • Steve & Gloria Gangwer
  • Doug Gates
  • George Gifford
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Greece

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.
  • Community: Pray for young children in our community

    • For Godly influences
    • For safety and protection from accidents, abuse, and predators
    • Salvation for unbelievers
    • For a heart to learn and to know God from a young age

Question #26: What else does Christ’s death redeem?

Children’s Answer: Every part of fallen creation.

Adult’s Answer: Christ’s death is the beginning of the redemption and renewal of every part of fallen creation, as he powerfully directs all things for his own glory and creation’s good.

    Memory Verse

    Colossians 1:19–20 (HCSB)

For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile everything to Himself by making peace through the blood of His cross– whether things on earth or things in heaven.
