1 Chronicles 19

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

What kind gesture did David make toward Hanun, the new king of Ammon? What did Hanun do? How did David respond? What happened?

Do I understand that a foolish decision and an insulting response to a kind gesture can have an impact on other people besides myself?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, Keep me from responding to kindness with rudeness and cruelty. Give me a heart of compassion and a mind of wisdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Moy & Janeth Ortiz (Anabelle)
  • Doug & Pam Patchin
  • Martin & Patricia Regueiro
  • Daryl & Joyce Roech & family
  • Chris & DeAnn Smith (Sasha, Noah, Gavin, Natalie
  • Ross Stoltey

  • Boise Rescue Mission

  • That we will be people who are devoted to giving to the Lord’s work and to anyone who has a need.
  • Community: Pray for teens and young adults (middle school through college age) in our community

    • For Godly influences and teachers
    • For safety and protection from accidents, abuse, and predators
    • Salvation for unbelievers
    • For a heart to learn and to know God
    • That they will not be prodigals, but remain true to God all the days of their lives
    • That they would turn to God to fill every need, not to addictive substances and behaviors
    • Respect for parents and other authority

Question #30: What is faith in Jesus Christ?

Children’s Answer: receiving and resting on him alone for salvation as he is offered to us in the gospel

Adult’s Answer: Faith in Jesus Christ is acknowledging the truth of everything that God has revealed in his Word, trusting in him, and also receiving and resting on him alone for salvation as he is offered to us in the gospel.

    Memory Verse

    Galatians 2:20 (HCSB)

And I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
