Observation

What does God promise in verses 1-13? Who is the one being foretold in verses 14-26?

Application

Am I confident and thankful that God will bring ultimate peace for His people? Am I eager to see Jesus reign and make all things new?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Oh Lord, my God and Father: Thank You that You cleanse all who turn to Christ from all the sin they have committed against You and You forgive all their sins of rebellion against You. As one so forgiven, may I bring You renown, joy, praise and honor by the way I live my life. I give thanks to You, LORD Almighty, for You are good; Your love endures forever. I pray this in the Name of Jesus, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Dave & Debbie Spears
  • Mike & Ann Thorn
  • Donna Thurman
  • Steve Vinsonhaler
  • Justin & Bonnie Wilkerson (Janae, Jordan)
  • Sree & Irena Yalamanchili (Aria)

Ministry:

  • Mugabi Charities – ministering to orphans in Uganda

CLF:

  • That we would be devoted to thanksgiving and praise to our Lord–for what He has done, for what He is doing, for what He will do, and for who He is–in good times and bad.

Community: Pray for our state leaders…

  • Governor & his advisers
  • Judges
  • state senators and representatives
  • that they would all be faithful in carrying out their duties justly
  • that they would submit themselves to God

Catechism

PART 3: SPIRIT, RESTORATION, GROWING IN GRACE

Question #45: Is baptism with water the washing away of sin itself?

Children’s Answer: No, only the blood of Christ can cleanse us from sin.

Adult’s Answer: No, only the blood of Christ and the renewal of the Holy Spirit can cleanse us from sin.

Memory Verse

Luke 3:16 (HCSB)

John answered them all, “I baptize you with water, but One is coming who is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to untie the strap of His sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
