Scripture

Jeremiah 36

Observation

Why did God tell Jeremiah to have everything revealed to him written down on a scroll? What happened when the officials heard Jeremiah’s assistant, Baruch, reading the scroll at the temple? What was King Jehoiakim’s response upon hearing the scroll read to him? How did God respond?

Application

How do I respond upon hearing God’s Word?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Father God, May I never respond to Your Word like Jehoiakim, who was not moved by it nor took it seriously, and tried to destroy it, and faced a terrible punishment as a result. Instead, may I come before You an Your Word with great reverence and awe, responding to the Spirit’s conviction and illumination with obedience from a heart of thanks and love. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Roger & Andrea Gabel; Tom
  • Steve & Gloria Gangwer
  • Doug Gates
  • George Gifford
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

Ministry:

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Greece

CLF:

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for Boise & Garden City…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials
  • Gowan Field Military Base

PART 3: SPIRIT, RESTORATION, GROWING IN GRACE

Question #46: What is the Lord’s Supper?

Children’s Answer: Christ commanded all Christians to eat bread and to drink from the cup in thankful remembrance of him.

Adult’s Answer: Christ commanded all Christians to eat bread and to drink from the cup in thankful remembrance of him and his death. The Lord’s Supper is a celebration of the presence of God in our midst; bringing us into communion with God and with one another; feeding and nourishing our souls. It also anticipates the day when we will eat and drink with Christ in his Father’s kingdom.

Memory Verse

1 Corinthians 11:23–26 (HCSB)

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: On the night when He was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and said, “This is My body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way, after supper He also took the cup and said, “This cup is the new covenant established by My blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.
