Acts 25

Why haven’t Paul’s opponents faded away in the two years he’s been awaiting his judgment? Do you think Paul appealed to Caesar for spiritual reasons, legal reasons, or both? Explain your answer.

What can I learn about how to conduct myself even during long periods of difficulty? About turning difficulty into opportunity? If someone wanted to prove you were a Christian, what evidence would they use to support that claim?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father, Your servant Paul was held for years on trumped up charges and forced to make a defense–where none should have been required–time and time again. Yet he used these “obstacles” as opportunities to witness for You to the highest rulers in the land. He exercised his rights as a Roman citizen in order to preach the Gospel to the rulers in Judea and then to officials in Rome. Lord, I often get so caught up in my “rights” that I forget I am a foreigner in this land; my citizenship is in Heaven, and I am Your ambassador to this country. May I always use my rights as simply a tool to further Your work and to impact my area for Your kingdom. Instead of railing and rebelling against those who would persecute me, help me to view it as another opportunity for ministry. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack, Emma, Lucy)
  • Dakota “Koty” & Kayla Molner (Elijah)

  • Operation Christmas Child

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.

Community: Pray for the relationship between generations–parents, children, grandparents

  • That the true Christian faith of older generation would be clearly communicated and passed down to children
  • That saved children in unsaved families would clearly exhibit and communicate the faith to their parents and grandparents
  • A harvest of souls of all ages
  • Good, nurturing relationships
