Psalms 72-73

For what things does the king pray in psalm 72? On Psalm 73, What does Asaph say almost caused his fall? What brought him back to the godly path?

Do I pray for my nation and its leaders on a regular basis? Do I focus on the wealth and current status of wicked people, or do I set my eyes on my eternal God and trust Him to put all things right in His perfect timing?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father God, I come before You today lifting up my country and its ruling leaders. May they lead in justice and righteousness. May we have prosperity. May the wrongly afflicted be vindicated, and the oppressors be crushed. May we help the poor who cry out and have no helper. May the righteous flourish. May Your people lift up this nation and its leaders in prayer continually, and may You bless us. May there be plenty of grain in the land; may it wave on the tops of the mountains. May our crops be bountiful. May people flourish in the cities like the grass of the field. May all nations be blessed by us and call us blessed. May You, LORD God, be praised, who alone does wonders. May Your glorious name be praised forever; the whole earth is filled with Your glory. Keep me from envying the prosperity of the wicked and all the earthly things they have, and instead help me to focus on all I have in You for all eternity! For You are always with me, and You hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterwards you will take me up into glory. Whom do I have in heaven but You? And I desire nothing on earth but You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but You are the strength of my heart, my portion forever. Those far from You will certainly perish; You destroy all who are unfaithful to You. But as for me, Your presence is my good. I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, so I can tell about all You do. Amen and amen.

Pray to BLESS!

One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries.

  • Mike Daniels
  • Theresa Daniels
  • Travis Davidson (Andrew, Maddy)
  • Pat Dumandan
  • Ken & Twilla Eden (Mattea, Joseph, Joshua, Sophia, Jonathan)
  • Gary Friend

  • Tim & Miranda Penn (Samid, Sarah), missionaries to Albania

  • That Christian Life Fellowship would be a church that is devoted to the Word of God, and that we would be doers of it and not just hearers; that we would study the Word and so always be prepared to give everyone an answer–in season and out of season–and be approved workers who do not need to be ashamed, able to accurately understand and explain it.

Community: Pray for your neighbors…

  • That God would provide opportunities for you to minister to them
  • That unbelievers would receive Christ as Savior and Lord
  • For their marriages / family relationships
  • For their finances / employment
  • Any specific needs of which you’re aware
