Scripture

Psalms 74-75

Click here to read today’s passage on Bible Gateway

Observation

How did Asaph feel about God (74:1,9,10-11)? What brought him some comfort (74:12-17)? What does He ask (74:18-23)? What does Psalm 75 teach us regarding the sovereignty of God? What should His people do (75:1,9)?

Application

How do I respond when I feel like God is a million miles away and not involved in my life? Do I recall His great works in the past? Do I ask Him to arise again? Do I trust God to be control of everything? Do I thank Him and praise Him and tell others about Him?

Prayer

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear God, Keep me from being rules by my emotions. Help me to remember that You always keep Your promises, and You promised never to leave me or forsake me, so that is true, even when I can’t see it or don’t feel it. Help me to recall Your mighty works in times past to encourage me, and call me to continue in prayer until You answer. Dear Father, You alone are God! You will judge fairly in Your good time. You are the One who created and sustains all things, and no one can boast before You. No man can say he has been exalted on his own merits, for You, Lord, are the judge Who exalts one and brings down another, and one day all the wicked will drink the cup of Your wrath and judgment. I give you thanks and praise to You and will tell of Your wonderful works forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Roger & Andrea Gabel; Tom
  • Steve & Gloria Gangwer
  • Doug Gates
  • George Gifford
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

Ministry:

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Greece

CLF:

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for the poor & imprisoned

  • Salvation
  • That they will trust in God’s provision
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • That they will have hope
  • For godly mentors in the prison/jail system
