How is the church to respond to sexual immorality? How are the members of the church to respond individually to people in unrepentant immorality?

Do I simply look away from or wink at sexual immorality in the church? Am I part of the problem or part of the solution? How am I to keep from becoming involved in sexual sin myself?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Dear Heavenly Father, I ask that my church would never be proud of sexual immorality in our midst. May we always be a church that stands firmly against it. If we discover people engaged in such activity, may we always confront them and give them an opportunity to repent–but if they do not, may we be filled with grief and put out the people involved, handing them over to Satan so the sinful nature might be destroyed and their spirits saved on the day of the Lord. Help us to remember that just as a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough. So strengthen us to get rid of the old, sinful yeast that we may be a new batch without yeast, as we really are. For Christ was sacrificed for us, so help us not to celebrate the old lifestyle of malice and wickedness, but the new one of sincerity and truth. May we not associate with sexually immoral people–not at all meaning the unsaved people of this world, for in that case we would have to leave the world–but with anyone who calls himself a Christian but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. May we not even eat with such people. Strengthen us to obey You and expel such people from among us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Roger & Andrea Gabel; Tom
  • Steve & Gloria Gangwer
  • Doug Gates
  • George Gifford
  • Scott & Kristi Guinn (Josiah)

  • J & G Simon, missionaries to Greece

  • Ask that we would be a church that is devoted to true fellowship: Pray that we would be encouraged from being united with Christ, comforted by His love, bonded with His Spirit, tender and compassionate with one another. Pray that we would be like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Ask that we would do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider one another better than ourselves, looking not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of each other. Pray that we would all have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus.

Community: Pray for Mountain Home…

  • That city leaders would submit to God
  • That people can find and keep gainful employment
  • For sound financial management by city officials
  • Salvation for unbelievers
  • For the mayor, city council members, and public works officials
  • For the air base: safety for military and their families (especially those who are deployed), sound military strategies by commanders, impact for Christ in areas where deployed
