1 Corinthians 6

How are disputes between believers to be handled? How can sexual sin be avoided? What should we do with our bodies and why?

If I am in a dispute with a fellow Christian, what does this passage teach me regarding dealing with that dispute? Do I dwell on sexual temptation or flee from it? Do I glorify God with my body, remembering it is part of the Body of Christ and the Holy Spirit’s temple and that I am not my own but God’s, purchased at the highest price?

Pray today’s Scripture back to God:
Father, may we not take our disputes before worldly judges instead of the church. If we have disputes, may we appoint as judges even men of little account in the church if no one wise can be found. But may brothers not file lawsuits against one another in front of unbelievers. May we rather choose to be wronged and cheated, and so not bring shame on the church. May we not cheat and wrong our brothers, but help us remember that, though we once were wicked, we were washed and sanctified and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by Your Holy Spirit. So, though everything may be permissible, help me to set aside what is not beneficial. May I remember that You raised Christ and You will raise me also, and my body is a member of Christ. Therefore, I must not use it as a means for sexual sin. Instead, help me choose to flee from sexual immorality, remembering that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in me, who I have received from You. I am not my own; I was bought at a great price. Therefore, may I honor You with my body. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Pray to BLESS!
One good way to pray for people is to use the acronym BLESS to pray for God’s blessing on every area of their lives:

  • B – BODY (physical health)
  • L – Labor (their job or school)
  • E – Emotions (emotional health as well as guarding against letting emotions rule)
  • S – Social (relationships with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church, etc)
  • S – Spiritual (remaining true to God and growing in Him)

Spend some time praying for the following people and ministries:

  • Jamie Haberkorn (Hannah, Sean)
  • Deborah Halkola
  • David & MaryBeth Hollander (Cole, Marcus, Jack, Emma, Lucy)
  • Dakota “Koty” & Kayla Molner (Elijah)

  • Operation Christmas Child

  • Pray that we would be a church that is dedicated to the breaking of bread, both in the sense of being devoted to observing the Lord’s Supper, and in meeting together for meals to fellowship, to deepen bonds, to heal offenses, and to end disputes.
